We are committed to keeping our data practices simple and transparent. GridWise Audit is a free comparison tool — we do not sell electricity, collect payment information, or require user accounts.
Information We Collect
Information You Don't Provide
GridWise Audit does not require registration, login, or any personal information to use. You can compare every electricity plan in Texas without providing your name, email, address, or any other identifying information.
Automatically Collected Data
Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, including:

- •Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- •Pages visited and time spent
- •Referring URL (how you found us)
This information is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and improve the site. It is not used to identify individual visitors.
Favorites (Local Storage)
When you mark a plan as a favorite, that preference is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to measure site performance and visitor trends. Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information.
Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with our site, including page views and feature usage. GA4 may set cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. Google may process this data on servers in the United States.

Our site contains links to electricity provider websites (sign-up links, EFL documents). Once you leave GridWise Audit, you are subject to that provider's privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share aggregate, non-identifying analytics data (e.g., "40% of visitors compared Oncor plans") to improve our service.
Data Retention
Server logs containing automatically collected data are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted. Rate snapshot data (aggregate market pricing, no personal data) is retained indefinitely for historical trend analysis.
Children's Privacy
GridWise Audit is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your Choices
Browser settings: You can configure your browser to block cookies or clear localStorage at any time.
Analytics opt-out: You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Do Not Track: We respect Do Not Track browser signals.
