Every Electricity Facts Label lists an average price at 500 kWh. That number reflects fixed monthly charges spread over lower usage, so it is a better guide for a smaller home than the 1,000 kWh price.
Know the bill credit minimum
Some plans include a bill credit that applies only when usage reaches a set level, often 1,000 kWh or more. Below that level the credit does not apply. Plans with a credit your usage may not reach are flagged above.
Watch fixed monthly charges
A provider base charge and the TDU customer charge stay the same each month. At lower usage they add more to your price per kWh, which is why rankings can change between 500 and 1,000 kWh.
Look at the cancellation fee
Texas rules bar a cancellation fee when you move and give the provider a forwarding address and, if asked, proof of the move. Other early cancellations can still carry a fee, so it is shown on every plan.
